BIO
Brenda May is an Australian romantic suspense writer. She has kept and treasured the first book she ever owned, Heidi by Johanna Spyri, but it was Enid Blyton’s Famous Five and the Secret Seven that ignited her love of adventure, mystery and fantasy. A strict and rigid bedtime as a young girl right in the middle of her parent’s favourite crime show encouraged Brenda’s imagination as she had to make up her own endings so she could sleep peacefully.
An adventurous spirit saw her leave family behind in the southern states and travel to far North Queensland, working on Dunk Island and then the Tip of Cape York. During the seven years of island life and remote area living, Brenda discovered a passion for nature and loves to use the sights, sounds and smells of the natural world to enhance her characters’ journeys on their quests for love.
Writing was a dream and Brenda had a box full of half written stories, ideas and poems, thinking… one day… One day came when she realised how many aspiring authors were shy to show their work. She bit the bullet and handed her hidden manuscript to a valued writer friend to read. The process of sharing opened the doors to her imagination and to learning more about the craft of writing and set in motion a six book series.
“All Roads Lead to Love.” With her first novel ‘A Wild Ride to Love,” complete and published. Work on the second book is well under way. Each book will be a stand alone. An action packed, romantic suspense adventure, with crime elements of drugs, kidnap, smuggling and an illegal trade market that arcs through all six books.
Always striving for perfection, there’s a quote Brenda remembers from grade 1 that has followed her all her life: “Good better best, never let it rest, till the good is better and the better is best.”
